Veolia and PUB Singapore sign a collaboration agreement to advance potable water reuse and membrane filtration technologies
16 Jun 2026

On June 12, Veolia and PUB Singapore signed a collaboration agreement to advance potable water reuse and membrane filtration across one of Asia Pacific's most water-stressed cities. Freshwater security is not an abstract concern here. Singapore has spent decades engineering its way out of dependency, and this deal pushes that effort further.
Central to the agreement is a focus on advanced membrane systems, where both parties bring complementary expertise. Veolia's VP of Strategic Partnerships confirmed the partnership will accelerate NEWater expansion through targeted filtration advances. Faster deployment means greater capacity to treat and reuse water at the volumes a densely populated, import-reliant city-state demands.
More than 40% of Singapore's water supply already comes from NEWater. Expanding that share reduces exposure to both import dependency and climate variability, two pressures that are only intensifying across the region. Industries from semiconductors to food production stand to benefit directly from a more resilient municipal supply.
For businesses operating regionally, the agreement signals a broader shift. Governments and private partners across Asia Pacific are increasingly co-investing in circular water infrastructure, and the appetite for proven technology is growing fast. Veolia brings global deployment experience; PUB contributes deep operational knowledge of Singapore's unique regulatory and environmental conditions. Together, they are building something more than a local solution.
What emerges from this collaboration may well become a template. Other water-scarce cities in the region will be watching closely, and with good reason.
